No hard luck stories this time as Marlow had only themselves to blame for yet another close defeat having had the majority of chances and then allowing slackness to take away a point they had looked like taking against third-places Beaconsfield.

Plans were hit in the warm-up with John Isaac feeling a groin and having to be replaced by John Mbamarah - otherwise it was the same side that played on Saturday against Biggleswade.

The game took a while to settle before Jorday Dowdican looked to have been caught behind in the visitor's area in the 17th minute which certainly knocked him off balance but he continued his run only for his attampt to be blocked.

A complete miskick inside his own area by Ross Herridge 8 minutes later led to confusion and an inability to clear the danger allowed Charlie Mpi to seize the opportunity to smash in on the turn giving Jonathan Nydell no chance and make it 0-1.

Natahniel Blanks dinked in a pinpoint cross for Aaron Couch to potentially set up the equaliser soon after but from just a few yards out the ball ended up wide of the target.

Couch himself put a cross in three minutes before the interval but Dowdican's flicked header fell into the hands of the keeper on his line with a driven cross from Jon Case being met on the volley by a unbalanced Couch and again finding the same outcome shortly after.

The second period saw Beaconsfield generally committing the majority of their side to defending with just the occassional break whilst Marlow for their efforts rarely look threatening - until the 75th minute that is - when Couch chipped forward into the Beaconsfield box and Adam Harman chested the ball down and forward and then poked it past the keeper to level matters.

Marlow hopes of a point - or better still three - were dashed when they fell asleep in the 82nd minute following the award of a corner to Beaconsfield. First they allowed a short corner to be worked by not being alert/aware/organised and then, having failed to clear the ball when delivered into the middle, allowed Yiadom Yeboah to poke it in from less than 2 yards out by playing him onside through slackness.

Yet another self-inflicted loss!!!
